Is Tivo MAK a security risk? NowPlaying Tivo safe?

I found a program for the Mac called “NowPlaying Tivo Widget.” I saw it on several blogs and researched many people enthusiastically saying it is a free way of viewing your Tivo on your computer. Now, it asks for your Tivo Media Access Key (MAK) which it needs to connect to the Tivo. However, when I got it off of the Tivo it told me not to give the MAK to unauthorized sources outside of your house. However, I am unsure of whether this program is safe or not when using it.
